Diacritics and languages in engraving
Correct diacritics and special characters are essential for a professional engraving result. A missing accent can change a name, surname, dedication or foreign-language text. For this reason, the final text should always be checked carefully before production.
Language support
Czech Republic
Czech diacritics such as á, č, ď, é,ě, í, ň, ó, ř, š, ť, ú,ů, ý and ž can be used when the selected font supports them.
Slovakia
Slovak characters are also supported when the font contains the required glyphs. Names and dedications should be entered exactly as they should appear.
Germany and Austria
German characters such as ä, ö, ü and ß can be used with compatible fonts. For corporate and formal texts, please check spelling and capitalization before sending.
Poland
Polish characters require a font with full Central European support. If a selected decorative font does not contain all characters, we will recommend a safer alternative.
English
English usually does not require special diacritics, but punctuation, capitalization and line breaks should still be checked.
Other languages
Other languages may be possible depending on the font and script. Please send the final text and, if possible, a reference or PDF preview.
How to prevent errors
- write the final text exactly as it should be engraved
- do not remove accents from names unless it is intentional
- check all special characters
- choose a font that supports the language
- approve the proof carefully before production
Recommendation
For multilingual, formal or commemorative texts, choose a clean and readable font. Decorative fonts may not include all characters and can reduce readability.

KalinumX checks text, font and material before production, but the customer is responsible for the correctness of the supplied wording. If you are not sure whether a specific language or character is suitable, send us the text first and we will review it.
